There were many injuries reported as the incident happened during the rush hour at around 3 p.m. onward. They were taken to San Juan de Dios Hospital and Pasay General Hospital for immediate medical attention.

There were at least 30 wounded persons reported including the elderly and women which were in front of the derailed train. Also, some private vehicles were reportedly damaged. Heavy traffic poured in as the incident took place.

According to LRTA Spokesperson Hernando Cabrera said the main cause of the MRT train derailment was that of a loaded train was defective and lost its power due to technical issue.

Another train was coupled with the defective train so it can be pushed but the defective train uncoupled with the second train that was pushing it and overshot to its track causing injuries and damages.
