A housemaid who was identified as Emily Magbanua from Narra Town in Palawan, Philippines is now facing charges filed by her own employer after she got caught in a CCTV footage maltreating her 85-year-old ward multiple times this July 2014. The actual footage was aired in GMA News "24 Oras" last Monday night, July 21, 2014. An interview with the employer was conducted and she stated that they were so kind to Emily and they treated her like a family member even though she was still new on her housemaid duty.

On a record footage of July 16, 2014, when it was first showed Emily acting suspicious when she forced the spoon into the mouth of her employer's mother while feeding her. It was also indicated that she was using unnecessary force to clean the old lady's face. She was not contented that she even hit hard the poor disabled woman on the head with her fist.
Another maltreatment act was recorded using hidden camera last July 17, 2014, which Magbanua held tight the nose of the bedridden woman after putting the food inside elder's mouth. It was not enough for her, she went back and shook the head of the 85-year-old poor mother.
The grandchild of her ward saw Emily in the computer monitor and noticed that there was something wrong with her actions so she rushed to the area where her grandparent was and the maid suddenly became tamed.
The family then suspected that something was not right and they backtracked the CCTV footage recordings
It was confirmed that maltreatment had taken place and the family unhesitatingly filed a case against Emily Magbanua.
The employer was really mad when she was informed that her mother was being maltreated by her maid. She said that her heart can forgive her but she needs justice for what has happened to her mother.
Safety measure advice was given by the owner of an employment agency. Employers should make sure the trustworthiness of their household helpers and make sure that the documents provided are authentic. Employers are also encouraged to do their independent background check. Do not ever tolerate unusual behavior of a helper.
