Teacher 'throws' serving spoon in the eye of her student

LA UNION —- Elsa, the child's mother, felt bad after the teacher hits her child with a serving spoon resulting to a wound near the right eye. was wounded near his right eye when his teacher threw a serving spoon at him in Palina, Pugo, La Union.

The accused was identified as Teacher Jorgina Basilio of Palina, Pugo, La Union. She said that what happened was not intended and she did not mean to hurt her own student.

Teacher Basilio further explained that she was using the serving spoon to scold her other students who were also the child's friends who did not obey her to clean the classroom. She also added that the spoon she was holding accidentally took off from her hands and bounced from a wood hitting the child's right side of the face near the eye.

On the other hand, the school principal went against the accused teacher and revealed that this is not the first time they received complaints about Basilio hurting students.

Principal Marianita Pang-Ot also said that several parents have complained that Basilio was hurting their children whenever she was annoyed by them. Some of the students were tempting Jorgina to get angry because they know if they got hurt by her again, a strong possibility of dismissal from the school can be appealed against the teacher.

The child protection policy of The Department of Education states that teachers are not allowed to hurt any of their students.

Basilio will not be sued by the child's parents after she gave an apology and promised to take care of all the child's hospital bills.

However, if another complaint filed against her for hurting another child, she can get suspended or terminated from her job position permanently.
