Five Things You Should Know About She's Dating The Gangster

How can a true love develop from pretending? Daniel Padilla and Kathryn Bernardo will show us based on their characters which you will find out in the strong>She's Dating the Gangster. SDTG is a romantic movie based on a book novel of young adult which was published with the same title by Summit Books. The movie version is directed by Cathy Garcia-Molina and screenplay by Carmi Raymundo.

The film is all about the heartbreaking story of the 17-year-old Athena Dizon who pretends to be the girlfriend of Kenji Delos Reyes known as the gangster of their campus. He arranged this agreement with Athena to make his ex-girlfriend jealous.

SDTG also has the special participation of veteran stars in the showbiz industry such as Richard Gomez and Dawn Zulueta along with the other cast members which include Igi Boy Flores, Pamu Pamorada, Marco Gumabao, Khalil Ramos, John Uy, Alexander Diaz, and Yana Asistio.

This movie brought to you by Star Cinema is slated to be opened on July 16, 2014, #SevenOneSixOneFour. But before that, we will break the long wait for the movie's opening by bringing you the five (5) things that you should know about She's Dating the Gangster:

FIRST:

The origin of the romantic story of She's Dating The Gangster is from the online world written by Bianca Bernardino, a Psychology graduate, from late 2005 and finished it in 2006.

The story was originally posted on www.candymag.com in April 2006 and it was also published in Wattpad, a social publishing site. After all the online endeavors, it was officially published as a hard copy book by Summit Books in March 2013 . Just a month later, it ramped up to the top listings of bestseller's book of National Book Store in the Phlippines.

As of today, the publisher already printed 115,000 copies on its 7th reprint.

A little trivia: The writer, Bianca Bernardino, initially thought that the Managing Editor of Summit Books, Mavreen Yapchiongco, was just making a prank call the first time she was contacted.

SECOND:

There is a surprise tie-in available for the movie featuring Kathniel in the special version of She's Dating The Gangster released by Summit Books.

There movie tie-in has already produced 40,000 copies which features the edited version from the Teen Talk forum of candymag. It is also taken to a point that the tie-in is a never ending trend in the world of publishing even in the Hollywood productions.

Another trivia: The film tie-in is made in Taglish version that has a lot of Kathryn Bernardo and Daniel Padilla sweetness!

THIRD:

Being a gangster is not easy so a checklist should be checkout! The book's prologue shows a message from Athena where she listed the characters of Kenji that makes him a gangster. "He's not into a gang nor is he a criminal. I just mean that he's your typical bad boy" -Athena:

5. always involves in a fight

The writer of SDTG really sees Athena and Kenji as Kim Chiu and Gerald Anderson because the loveteam, Kimrald, were the popular one during the time when she was still writing the story.

Bianca Bernardino also explained that she portrays Kim Chiu and Gerald Anderson as Athne and Kenji because during the time when she was making the book back in 2006, there was still no Kathniel.

FIFTH:

People should expect some changes to the movie translation of the book. It was made clear during the interview of YES! Magazine for the July 2014 issue with Cathy Garcia-Molina published, the director of SDTG, that they made some revisions to the movie.
