Marlisa Punzalan wins 'X Factor Australia' finals; youngest Filipino-Australian grand champion

AUSTRALIA -- The 15-year-old Filipino-Australian hails as the youngest champion of Australia's edition of "The X Factor" after she was announced as the grand winner this 6th season of the talent search.

Marlisa Punzalan is a child of both Filipinos based in suburb Mount Druitt in Sydney. She was mentored by Ronan Keating all throughout the competition up to the last where she beat Brothers3 and Dean Rey who were coached by Dannii Minogue and Natalie Bassingwaithe respectively.

A duet with Dean Rey, the runner-up contestant, was held as their first and last performance together on this competition.



They were followed by other performances from American superstar Taylor Swift and the Australian Idol Guy Sebastian.

Punzalan's last performance on Sunday night where she belted out The Beatles' "Yesterday" and her winner's single "Stand By You" made the judges gave her standing ovation. Public votes made her won the X Factor Australia.

During the early stage of the competition, The 15-year-old Fil-Aussie contestant admitted that she was lacking confidence but she proved that she deserved to be the winner by belting out again the "Titanium."
