New research led by Professor Sun Young Lee that comprised of 4 independent experimentations was conducted by scholars of the London Business School and the University of Maryland, the study found that being too handsome can harm or affect own's career.
According to the study, handsome men are more likely seen as threats to their male bosses that led to a not so easy and good situation and unarmed them not to be able to take a grasp on some opportunities.
In the 4 independent experimentations, the researchers asked the participants to choose people in the CVs for a job vacancy on their supposed office to be filled with set of candidates.
There it happened that even people showed the same capabilities and attributes, among male participants they tended to look for the attached photographs of the applicants, if they found them pleasingly handsome they will just ignore it.
Researchers said that while choosing the applicants, male participants felt threatened when they show a handsome man.
“With more companies involving employees in recruitment processes, this important point needs attention,” she said. “Awareness that hiring is affected by potential work relationships and stereotyping tendencies can help organizations improve their selection processes.”
In this research, it only showed that being handsome can also be a threat and not just strength. However, if your boss or someone is meddling your achievements and promotions, do not lose hope. You may be incredibly handsome as they see you as a threat.
