A video of Gerald, the 'Math Genius' kid went viral in the internet a couple of days ago.
The ABS-CBN news team decided to hit the streets of Manila to find out his story but it turned out that Gerald has two friends who also know how to solve difficult Math problems.
These two fellows who also have talent when it comes to numbers were identified as Joel and RG, both 11 years old.
ABS-CBN field reporter, Ron Gagalac, tested them with some square root and cube root problems using a calculator to check if answers are correct. He also tried to ask them a couple of wrong equations but they know it very well.
News team followed the 2 'Math Wizard' as they go along with their daily routine of asking people to give them numbers to solve in exchange for some coins that they will be using to buy foods.
And guess what? People are amazed. A female student also admitted that the Mathematical problems they are solving are quite complicated but they were able to answer.
If they will be given a chance to get a formal education to properly develop their ability, a citizen said.
How did they became Math Wizards?
According to these young kids, they learned the techniques to solve numbers through begging to some students. That technique is on how to solve equations without using any tools such as calculators, only their minds.
"Kasi po sinabi po samin ng civil engineering sa USTE. Hindi po namin kilala kasi marami po sila, grupo." -Joel
Joel said that a group of civil engineering students were the good guys who thought them the technique.
Joel and RG are both enrolled in a public school but they barely attend classes because they are too busy roaming in the streets searching for food to eat.
RG is living in the sidewalks while Joel is spending his whole life in a wooden cart.
A hand is stretched by 'Lingkod Kapamilya' and promised that they will help these 2 young Math experts living in the streets to get them into a formal education and probably a proper home to live.
